NEWSTeam India have been dealt with a triple blow hours ahead of the second Test in Mumbai as all of Ravindra Jadeja, Ishant Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane have been ruled out with injuries.
The BCCI, in a release, have confirmed that while Ishant has dislocated his finger, Jadeja has suffered a right forearm injury. Rahane, meanwhile, is believed to have sustained a minor left hamstring strain whilst fielding on the final day in Kanpur.
"Fast bowler Ishant Sharma dislocated his left little finger during the final day of the 1st Test match in Kanpur. He is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai. The BCCI Medical team will continue to monitor his progress.
"All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffered a right forearm injury during the 1st Test match in Kanpur. After undergoing scans, he was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. He has been advised rest and is thus ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai.
"Ajinkya Rahane sustained a minor left hamstring strain while fielding on the final day of the 1st Test match in Kanpur. Since he has not recovered completely, he has been ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai. His progress will be closely monitored by the BCCI Medical team."
While it is evident that Siraj and Kohli will replace Ishant and Rahane respectively, it remains to be seen who takes the place of Jadeja.
Meanwhile, reports are also suggesting that New Zealand might be without their skipper Kane Williamson, who is believed to be experiencing pain in his elbow. In that case, the Black Caps will be led by Tom Latham.
