India go back to plan A, as Jemimah Rodrigues has returned to the playing XI for the clash against New Zealand on October 23 (Thursday), at the expense of all-rounder Amanjot Kaur. Despite not having the best of tournaments, Rodrigues returned to India’s playing XI after their narrow four-run defeat against England in the previous game.
However, they will have the same worries about not having the bowling depth or the sixth bowling option, given that Amanjot had a crucial bowling role for the team. But her own form has dwindled since the all-round show against Sri Lanka, with just 47 runs and three wickets across three encounters.
It could lead to Harmanpreet Kaur rolling her arm, given how the White Ferns haven’t had the best record against spin.
“The pitch is looking really good, and I think we have got a great opportunity, today we have added extra batters. So I think it's a great opportunity to set a decent total on the board. Jemimah is in for Amanjot,” Harmanpreet said at the toss.
India’s road to qualification isn’t as tricky as New Zealand as they need one win out of their two games and hope the White Ferns lose against England. On the field, India’s worries continued at the toss, as Harmanpreet has now lost her eighth consecutive toss, the joint-most for an Indian team.
