India got off to a superb start in their first match of Asia Cup 2025 as they bowled the UAE out for just 57 in 13.1 overs in Dubai on September 10 (Wednesday). UAE got off to a decent start, having put up 25/0 after three overs, but once Jasprit Bumrah bowled Alishan Sharafu in the fourth over, it went downhill for them from there.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers, finishing with 4/7 in just 2.1 overs, which are now the best figures in the Asia Cup T20, after Bhuvneshwar Kumar's five-wicket haul against Afghanistan in 2022.
5/4 - Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs AFG, Dubai, 2022
4/7 - Kuldeep Yadav vs UAE, Dubai, 2025
4/8 - Shadab Khan vs HK, Sharjah, 2022
4/17 - Mohammad Nabi vs HK, Mirpur, 2016
However, it was a day to forget for the UAE with the bat as they registered the second-lowest score in Asia Cup T20 history.
38 - Hong Kong vs Pakistan, Sharjah, 2022
57 - UAE vs India, Dubai, 2025
81/9 - UAE vs India, Mirpur, 2016
82 - UAE vs Bangladesh, Mirpur, 2016
Other than Kuldeep, Shivam Dube was among the wickets, finishing with 3/4. For the UAE, only openers Sharafu (22) and Muhammad Waseem (19) managed to get into double figures, while no batter managed to even go past five.
Earlier, India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and opted to bowl first. India did not pick their leading T20I wicket-taker, Arshdeep Singh and instead opted to go in with an extra spinner, which paid off.
