Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed has revealed that he was contacted by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), who are believed to have asked the right-arm speedster whether he was available to fill-in for them as a replacement player.
LSG have been marred by injuries ahead of IPL 2025, with Mayank Yadav, Avesh Khan and Akash Deep all unavailable for the initial few games. Mohsin Khan has already been replaced by Shardul Thakur.
Taskin told reporters back home that he’s already had discussions with LSG.
"They asked if I was available, as they were considering me for a replacement if needed,” Taskin told reporters, according to Bdcrictime.
“They were checking whether I would get an NOC if called as a replacement. If I get a call from anyone, I hope I will get the NOC this time.”
Taskin declared that he is certainly available to play in IPL 2025, and claimed that it is up to LSG or any other franchise to sign him up. He asserted that getting NOC from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) won’t be an issue.
"If they need me, that's the first thing. If they need someone and I am fit, then the NOC request is considered. I have spoken to the board. If I get a call, there shouldn't be any issues with the NOC, based on the discussions we've had," said Taskin.
"The first thing is that I need to get the call. If selected, I am hopeful about getting the NOC. Based on my discussions with the board, there shouldn't be any problems with the NOC this year," he added.
As it stands, there are no Bangladeshi players in IPL 2025. The last two editions saw Mustafizur Rahman play for CSK (IPL 2024) and Litton Das play for KKR (IPL 2023).
