MAJOR Return Confirmed As England Name Squad For India ODI Series
She is currently out of the T20I series due to a groin injury
In what comes as a huge boost, England have confirmed that white-ball captain Nat-Sciver Brunt will return for the three-match ODI series against India starting July 16, having missed the latter part of the ongoing T20I series due to a groin injury.
Sciver-Brunt played the first two T20Is - both of which England lost - but a groin injury she picked up ended up ruling her out of the remainder of the T20Is. In her absence, England are being captained by Tammy Beaumont in the ongoing series, which India currently lead 2-1.
But the 32-year-old star all-rounder, who took over as captain from Heather Knight two months back, has been cleared for the ODIs, which will be played between July 16 and July 22.
Left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone, who is playing in the ongoing T20I series, also returns to the 50-over side after missing the ODI series against West Indies in June.
26-year-old batter Maia Bouchier was also not in the squad for the ODIs against West Indies, which England won 3-0, and she’s also among those making a comeback. Last week, Bouchier was called in as a replacement for Sciver-Brunt for the remaining T20Is. It was only a week back that Bouchier scored an unbeaten ton against the Indian side representing the ECB Development Women's XI.
The three ODIs will be played across three different venues: Southampton, Lord’s and Chester-le-Street.
