Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma have been released by London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix respectively
Batters Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues were the only two Indian players retained by their respective franchises for the upcoming The Hundred 2022.
Mandhana, who played for runners-up Southern Brave in the inaugural edition and scored 167 runs from seven innings, is among the players to be retained by the franchise alongside England internationals Amanda-Jade Wellington and Danni Wyatt.
Rodrigues had a more fruitful campaign playing for Northern Superchargers, scoring 249 runs from seven innings as she finished as the second highest runscorer of the 2021 campaign.
India's T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was among the players released by Manchester Originals while allrounder Deepti Sharma and teenage opener Shafali Verma were also released by London Spirit and Birmingham Phoenix respectively.
Phoenix managed to retain star allrounders Ellyse Perry and Sophie Devine for the season alongside England wicketkeeper Amy Jones.
According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, Australians Tahlia McGrath and Meg Lanning have also committed to play in the competition after skipping the inaugural edition due to covid-19 restrictions.
