5 pivotal moments from MI's first win of IPL 2024

Another day, another entertaining game in IPL 2024. A look at how it all unfolded

Rohit’s bright start

Rohit Sharma (49) got Mumbai Indians (MI) off to a rollicking start and seemed to be back at his best, pulling and smashing the ball down the ground with utmost ease. His effort saw MI put up 75 on the board in the powerplay - the second-best start for them this season.

Axar pulls things back

Axar Patel (2/35) pulled things back for Delhi Capitals (DC) with his excellent spell, that saw him dismiss Rohit and Ishan Kishan off consecutive overs. In between, Anrich Nortje also got rid of Suryakumar Yadav for a duck, which handed DC three wickets in 21 deliveries.

Shepherd’s game-changing knock

Romario Shepherd (39*) turned the tables, smashing 32 off the final over. Without his innings, DC may have been chasing 210-215 and MI could have potentially lost the game. Anywhere the bowlers bowled, Shepherd was up the contest.

Stubbs' knock goes in vain

Tristan Stubbs (71*) continued from where he left off, scoring his second fifty in as many innings. His knock kept DC in the game for a long time, but it proved to be too much in the end, as they lost by 29 runs.

Bumrah shows his class (again)

In a game where the opposition needed close to 12 an over, Jasprit Bumrah (2/22) bowled an incredible spell that saw him get rid of Prithvi Shaw (66) and Abishek Porel (41) in back-to-back overs.

He mixed his lengths well, and that worked in his favour. Not just that, he also picked up his 150th IPL wicket.
