The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final, which was supposed to be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, will most likely not take place there anymore after the forced rescheduling due to border tensions between India and Pakistan.
After being suspended for one week from May 9 to 16, the IPL 2025 will return to action on May 17, and the remaining 17 league matches will be completed at six venues announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council (GC) on May 12.
The six venues- Delhi, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Lucknow and Bengaluru - will now have the opportunity to host the final and Qualifier 2 as well, while one of them will also host the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator, earlier scheduled to be hosted in Hyderabad.
The teams, which had one home game left, were deprived of having their home game at their own ground, owing to logistical problems and, according to a report in Cricbuzz, Mumbai was given the leeway only because the entire broadcast unit had stayed at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai since May 6.
Thus, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) were not given home games and their matches were shifted to Delhi. While Punjab's home games have been shifted to Jaipur owing to border constraints.
Since Kolkata will have problems with the weather and so will Mumbai in all likelihood in early June, that’s why Ahmedabad will be the likely option, although the weather forecast will remain the likely deciding factor.
