Royal Challengers Bangalore fined for slow over-rate

Meanwhile, Avesh Khan has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct in Lucknow's one-wicket win

The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during their one-wicket defeat against the Lucknow Super Giants in Match 15 of the Indian Premier League at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

The skipper of the home team, Faf du Plessis was fined INR 12 lakhs as it was the first offence of the season for the team under IPL's Code of Conduct.

Meanwhile, Avesh Khan was reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct. In pursuit of 213 runs, Lucknow Super Giants needed five off the last over, and the equation was down to 1 off 1, with one wicket remaining.

While he missed the yorker from Harshal Patel, Super Giants managed to run through for a bye, helping the team record a famous win by the barest of margins.

However, the right-handed batter threw his helmet as part of the celebration after the final delivery, which could have led to a breach. Avesh admitted to level 1 offence and accepted the sanction.

The Royal Challengers will now take on the Delhi Capitals at home in an afternoon encounter on April 15, while the Super Giants will lock horns against the Punjab Kings in the evening counter at the Ekana Stadium.
