After an incident in the last over of the third day’s play at Lord’s in the third Test between England and India, Shubman Gill became the talk of the town for taking a stance that showed a never-seen-before avatar of himself. Gill was agitated, fired up and angry at the English openers Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett for wasting time and not letting the second over get underway.
Tim Southee, England’s bowling consultant, lashed out at Gill for showing double standards, reminding him that he too wasted time by taking a massage in the middle of the pitch.
“I'm not sure what they were complaining about when Shubman Gill was lying down getting a massage in the middle of the day yesterday. It's obviously part of the game when you're near the end of the day. It's an exciting way to finish the day,” Southee was quoted as saying during the end-of-the-day press conference in London.
“Both sides played some good cricket and in a good spirit, and tonight was just a bit of energy towards the end of the day. It's been a long three days, and it was good to see the energy still there from both sides,” Southee added, as per Cricbuzz.
India finished their first innings at 387, exactly the same score as England and the English openers were out in the middle for six minutes, in which India wanted to bowl two overs, but some late ‘theatrics by English openers’, according to India’s KL Rahul, prevented India from bowling the second over.
As the game stands, England lead by two runs with two days of play left.
