5 moments that shaped the six-hitting bout between SRH and MI

Missed the SRH vs MI match? Worry not! We got you covered with the five defining moments of the eighth match of IPL 2024

Head made the drop count

Tim David dropped Travis Head when the left-hander was on 5 off two balls. Head made the most of that chance, scoring 62 off 24 balls. It rubbed off on Abhishek Sharma as well, who hammered 63 off 23 balls.

Klaasen shone again

Heinrich Klaasen piled on Mumbai Indians’ misery, scoring an unbeaten 80 off 34 balls. Between Head, Abhishek and Klaasen, SRH scored 205 runs from 81 balls. The other two batters, Mayank Agarwal and Aiden Markram, scored 53 runs off 41 balls.

Hardik’s struggle

Coming out to bat at five, Hardik Pandya scored only 24 off 20 balls. His strike rate of 120 was the lowest for any batter on both sides with a minimum of 15 balls. Against pace, he managed only 10 off 14 balls. Nine of these deliveries were in the back-of-a-length and short ball region which has been one of Hardik’s weaknesses with the bat while facing pace.

Cummins justified his price tag

At 8.8 runs per over, Pat Cummins was the most economical bowler in a game where the average run-rate was 13.1. Moreover, he picked the important wickets of Rohit Sharma (26 off 12 balls) and Tilak Varma (64 off 34 balls).

Record galore

If there was a record for most records in a T20 game, this game might be it. For complete details, refer to Anirudh Suresh’s piece where he summed up the clash as the craziest game in T20 cricket

Spoiler Alert: This match now has most runs scored and most sixes hit in a T20 match.
