On his 100th Indian Premier League (IPL) appearance for Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar Yadav smashed a fifty against Lucknow Super Giants on April 4 (Friday). The right-hander became just the third MI player to smash a half-century after Ambati Rayudu (54) and Kieron Pollard (51) on his 100th IPL game for the franchise.
Chasing 204, Naman Dhir gave the five-time IPL champions a stunning start in the run chase, with 30 runs off the first nine balls at the crease. Suryakumar picked it up from there, smashing Avesh Khan for a six to kick off before taking on Akash Deep and Ravi Bishnoi to up the ante.
54(49) - Ambati Rayudu vs SRH, Hyderabad, 2016
51* (17) - Kieron Pollard vs KKR, Mumbai, 2016
67 (43) - Suryakumar Yadav vs LSG, Lucknow, 2025*
It continued yet again against Bishnoi with a couple of boundaries before taking on Avesh for a lift-off, reaching 37 off 23 balls. The right-hander eventually got to his half-century off just 31 balls.
But ultimately, his stay came to an abrupt end in the 17th over of the run chase when the right-hander went for his trademark shot in the fine leg region. However, Abdul Samad ran across and pulled off a timely catch to end Suryakumar’s stay at the crease for a 43-ball 67.
