Suryakumar Yadav is ready to return to the Mumbai Indians (MI) side for the game against Delhi Capitals, As reported by Cricbuzz, .
Yadav, a key batter of the Mumbai side, has finally been cleared by the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru to take part in the ongoing Indian Premier League.
India’s T20I mainstay has had a tough year so far as he had to sit out since he scored a century in the third T20I against South Africa in December 2023 due to a Grade 2 ankle tear requiring surgery.
However, his problems didn’t end there, as he underwent a sports hernia surgery, which delayed his return to cricket and prohibited him from joining his IPL franchise from the start of the tournament.
It’s understood that the right-handed batter will join the MI training session at the Wankhede, and then a call will be made by the team management to ascertain his batting and match fitness.
After losing three games on the trot, Mumbai needs Yadav and all his batting prowess and their morale down with the crowd regularly booing their skipper. The batter who averages 45.55 and strikes at 171.55 in T20I cricket is required to change the fortunes of his IPL team, which conceded 277 to Sunrisers Hyderabad and then failed to chase it down despite being abreast with the required run rate for the most part of the innings.
Yadav’s return will certainly bolster the MI middle order, which currently lacks experience as Naman Dhir, Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma have failed to provide them with a match-winning impetus. MI are currently at the bottom of the points table, with the worst net run rate (-1.423 ) amongst the ten teams.
