THESE CSK Players Scored Duck On India Debut — Anshul Kamboj Joins Unwanted List
Kamboj joins two CSK legends who started their India career off with ducks.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pacer Anshul Kamboj was presented his Test cap yesterday, and the 24-year-old played his first innings in international cricket today on day two. However, the right-hander’s debut did not go as per plan as he lasted just three balls, perishing for a duck off the bowling of Ben Stokes.
A crazy coincidence is that he is not even the first CSK player to have registered a duck on international debut. In fact, he joins two CSK legends who started their India career off with ducks.
MS Dhoni
December 23, 2004, was when MS Dhoni made his international debut, against Bangladesh in Chattogram. India edged Bangladesh in a close encounter, but Dhoni endured a forgettable debut, registering a golden duck. It was an ill-fated run-out that ended his debut early.
Suresh Raina
Another CSK legend who started his career off with a duck is Suresh Raina. He debuted in July 2005 against Sri Lanka in Dambulla, and was dismissed for a golden duck by Muttiah Muralitharan, who trapped him LBW. That being said, five years later on Test debut, Raina started his red-ball career off with a century.

Ravichandran Ashwin did not start his India career off with a duck, but he however began his Test career off with a duck, against West Indies in 2011. He registered a 6-ball duck, dismissed by the current Windies coach Darren Sammy.
Considering what these players have achieved for the franchise, Kamboj will be hoping that this false start turns out to be the start of something special.
