Travis Head was named the winner of the most prestigious honour in Australian cricket–The Allan Border Medal for 2024-25 on February 3 (Monday) in the Australian Cricket Award ceremony held at Melbourne's Crown Casino.
Head, who was the top run-getter in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, the biggest series this summer in Australian cricket, beat Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Steve Smith to the race. While Head acquired 208 votes, Hazlewood was the second with 158, followed by Cummins at 147 and Smith at 107. Starc got 85 votes.
Apart from Head, many other players bagged other awards at the ceremony, but Head missed it because he is currently not in Australia, playing the Test series in Sri Lanka.
The biggest honour among women cricketers- the Belinda Clark Medal was won by Annabel Sutherland. The young all-rounder was at the peak of her form this summer, scoring three centuries and picking nine wickets across formats.
This was the first Allan Border Medal for Head and the first Belinda Clark Medal for Sutherland.
