Virat Kohli, on February 23 (Sunday), broke Mohammad Azharuddin's record to become India’s most successful catcher in ODIs during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 match against Pakistan in Dubai.
Kohli took Naseem Shah’s catch off Kuldeep Yadav’s bowling to break Azharuddin's record of 156 catches as fielder for India. He then took one more, this time of Khushdil Shah, off Harshit Rana's bowling. Kohli now has 158 catches in 299 ODIs.
The 36-year-old took two catches during India’s first game against Bangladesh to equal Azharuddin's record. Only five Indian players have taken over 100 catches in ODIs.
