Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma's India Return Delayed Due To THIS Reason

Team India will next be in action only in the Asia Cup 2025 next month

After a gruelling five-match Test series in England, the Indian players have reportedly asked for a break from the BCCI. India were due to play white-ball matches against Bangladesh later this month, but with that tour being cancelled, the BCCI was looking to squeeze in a tour of Sri Lanka.

The Bangladesh tour was to mark the return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, but that has now been pushed back.

"The players requested for a break after the England series. There is a hectic international schedule for India from Sept, which also involves going to Australia for a white-ball series in Oct," said a source according to NDTV Sports.

As things stand, Rohit and Kohli will return to action during the three-match ODI series in Australia in October. The duo retired from the T20Is after the T20 World Cup 2024 and then walked away from the Tests as well ahead of the England tour.

They will now play in the 50-over format, with one eye on playing in the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.

India will next be in action only in the Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to be played from September 9.
