Virat Kohli became the first in the Fab Four to retire from any format of the game when he called time on his Test career in May 2025. However, that led to another Fab Four, Kane Williamson, reflecting upon his career.
Williamson, who has played 105 Tests and is 34 years old, two years younger than Kohli, feels that he would also have to move away from the game one day, and that day is approaching fast.
“My first thought was, ‘oh gosh, there’s an end point. Because before that, you’re on the journey, there’s a pursuit there. And it’s not connected to those other three, but we’ve all been playing at the same time, and we’ve all competed against each other for a long time, and we all know each other pretty well,” Williamson was quoted as saying by The Guardian in an interview.
Williamson, who is in England to play in the T20 Blast 2025 and County Championship 2025 for Middlesex, also added, “So then you do start to reflect a little bit. I know Virat pretty well, we’ve chatted a lot over the years, but you do realise that we’re not just cricketers as well, we’re human beings and your life situation changes.”
