India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden One-Day International (ODI) century in the series decider against South Africa in Vishakapatnam. In his previous three ODIs, he had managed just 55 runs with a highest score of 22.
Jaiswal now has a century across all three formats. He has seven Test centuries and one in T20 Internationals (T20I) as well. As a result, the 23-year-old becomes the third youngest Indian player to score at least one century across formats.
Zimbabwe's Brian Bennett is the youngest to achieve this at the age of 21 years and 342 days. Among Indians, Jaiswal is the third youngest to reach the milestone, narrowly falling short of the records set by Shubman Gill and Suresh Raina.
Brian Bennett - 21y 324d
Ahmed Shahzad - 22y 127d
Shubman Gill - 23y 146d
Suresh Raina - 23y 241d
Yashasvi Jaiswal - 23y 343d
*At least one century in Tests, ODIs & T20Is
The southpaw also becomes only the sixth Indian to have at least a century in every format.
Suresh Raina
Rohit Sharma
KL Rahul
Virat Kohli
Shubman Gill
Yashasvi Jaiswal
Incidentally, Jaiswal is in the XI in the series against South Africa as skipper Gill missed out due to an injury. He was dismissed for 18 and 22 in the first two matches against South Africa but has made it cout in the final match with the series level at 1-1.
India were set a target of 271 to win the match and series. Jaiswal put on 155 for the first wicket with Rohit Sharma (75) to set the platform for an emphatic victory.
