A night before the opening Test against Sri Lanka, Pakistan have named their playing XI, which sees the return of spin bowling all-rounders Yasir Shah and Mohammad Nawaz. While the 36-year-old Shah makes his return after enduring a spell of injuries, Nawaz makes his first appearance for the national team in six years.Â

The last time these two sides played each other in Sri Lanka, it was Shah's impressive bowling that led Pakistan. Fawad Alam, who was a mainstay in the last two years in this Pakistan setup has been dropped down to the bench. On the other hand, the Babar Azam-led side have handed debut to a 28-year-old Salman Ali Agha.Â
The off-spinner was impressive in Pakistan's domestic competition.Â
