Coming in to bat in the powerplay with his side in a spot of bother at 37 for 3, Raza played a counter-attacking knock, scoring 82 off 48 with five fours and as many sixes punctuating his innings.Zimbabwe have been on the rise since Dave Houghton took over as head coach of the side ahead of their Qualifiers in June. Raza has credited Houghton for giving the players freedom to express themselves.&nbsp;&quot;I think Dave has made a massive difference since he took over. Dave has understood the players and given us the freedom and brought a long list. The fact that there&#39;s a lot of respect from the coaches and players, all those things he&#39;s allowed us to bloom and basically play with responsibility and freedom. So I think for that matter I think the credit goes to Dave and not me,&quot; Raza said at the post-match press conference.Raza further added that Houghton&#39;s ability to understand every player has brought the group together.&quot;I think we have a very good squad. We&#39;ve got a very diverse squad that&#39;s actually gelling really well. I would say again the credit really goes to David, how he looked after individual needs, what needs to be done individually. And then he understands each and every individual player and brings us together. Raza looked to cleverly shield the ball in his run-up till the point he had to release the ball, much like Narine has done all his career. The Zimbabwe all-rounder acknowledges he spoke to Narine extensively during the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).&quot;I don&#39;t think I have any other option. After those two surgeries, I lost a lot of strength in my shoulder so I couldn&#39;t really get my hand up. When I did, I felt like there was not a lot of zip on the ball. As we call it,&quot; Raza said.&quot;The ball wasn&#39;t coming out at a pace I wanted. And to be fair, Sunil Narine has had played a huge role. I was at CPL, I remember that I was watching him very closely, just bugging him a lot of those questions. So after those surgeries, I felt like I just didn&#39;t want to be a batter on the team. I wanted to carry over the all-rounder role.That&#39;s the first thing that came to mind. Took me a year and a half and, yeah, hopefully we give this some time soon. It&#39;s still a work in progress,&quot; he further explained.In pursuit of 175, Ireland lost four wickets in the powerplay and never recovered. We were happy at the halfway stage and just got blown away in that power play,&quot; Balbirnie said in the post-match press conference.&quot;And, you know, if I&#39;m going to be upset about winning tosses and losing games, it&#39;s going to be a long stint. I can&#39;t get too worked up about that. It&#39;s something I spoke about with some of the members of the squad and some of the management as well that&#39;s something I think we&#39;ve done pretty well over the last number of months. I know that he can handle the expectation and we can all expect more from him in the months and years to come.CDC: Ireland came so close on more than one occasion in the white-ball series against New Zealand and India in getting over the line. How frustrating was it to get so close and not get over the line and what were the learnings from those matches?LT: It was an interesting summer in the sense that we felt we played very well this summer but without too much to show for it. I think the main thing to take from it was that we now know that we are at the right level. Previously, it might have felt that we knew we were chasing down those bigger teams and not quite with them but we can take great confidence from this summer&#39;s performances. It feels like we&#39;ve got the attributes to win and it&#39;s only a matter of time before that starts happening regularly.CDC: You go into the T20 World Cup off the back of an impressive series win over Afghanistan. That must have been a huge relief for the entire team with the T20 World Cup just around the corner.Yes, we&#39;ve always had some great battles against Afghanistan but I think this one was especially significant given the format. T20 cricket has not always been our strength and the stats will probably tell you that we&#39;ve lost quite a number of T20I&#39;s against Afghanistan. To turn the past on its head and get a series win just before a World Cup was pretty inspiring and gave us great motivation for this coming month.CDC: Heinrich Malan took over as head coach earlier this year. How has the team gotten along with him and how&#39;s your experience been with him so far?<img src="https://images-cricketcom.imgix.net/1665904442336-articleimg" style="width: 600px;" class="fr-fic fr-dib">LT: Heinrich has been a breath of fresh air. He&#39;s challenged us to think differently and to apply different methods to achieve the desired results. On a personal level, he&#39;s always trying to get the best out of every individual and I&#39;ve felt a renewed sense of self-confidence in the last few months.CDC: You take on Namibia and Sri Lanka in the warm-up games ahead of the T20 World Cup. What are the areas as a team you think Ireland need to iron out ahead of your World Cup opener against Zimbabwe?LT: I think we&#39;ve had some pretty good experience this summer in T20 cricket. The game evolves so quickly so it was important that we felt we were keeping pace with this. For us, it&#39;s always about trying to be aggressive. We want to score quickly and efficiently and take wickets throughout the innings. If you can&#39;t get on top of the opposition in T20 cricket, fair chance they&#39;ll dominate you. In a massive blow to Zimbabwe&#39;s preparation for the T20 World Cup Down Under, Lance Klusener has stepped down from his role as the batting coach of the side with immediate effect.&nbsp;In a statement released by Zimbabwe Cricket, they said the decision was mutually agreed upon between the two parties and was taken to help Klusener&#39;s desire to pursue commitments across the globe.&nbsp;&quot;According to his agent, the decision follows Klusener&#39;s desire to pursue professional engagements around the globe, which will impact his full-time availability for the national team&#39;s programmes.&nbsp;Commenting on the development, ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni said, &quot;We are grateful to Lance for everything he has contributed during his time with us, including helping us to qualify for the ICC Men&rsquo;s T20 World Cup 2022, which gets underway in Australia in a few days.&quot;&quot;Unfortunately, due to his pressing commitments elsewhere, he could not continue with us on a full-time basis, and we agreed it was in the best interests of both parties to terminate his contract. We wish him the best as he pursues new endeavours,&rdquo; he further added.&nbsp;Zimbabwe are placed in Group B along with West Indies, Ireland and Scotland in the qualifying stage of the competition for the Super 12s.
