India vs England Day 5 Prediction: England Predicted Score, Best Batter, Best Bowler, Key Stats, Pitch Report, Weather & More
Here is what we can expect from Day 5 of the India vs England Test in Birmingham
India have managed to position themselves for a historic Test win for the first time in Birmingham after a terrific batting display on Day 4 with captain Shubman Gill once again leading from the front scoring 161 runs in the second innings. India set a mammoth target of 608 for England and the pacers have managed to take three wickets by the end of day's play.
Looking ahead to an epic closure on Day 5, here are possible things we can expect from tomorrow.
England are going to come hard on Day 5
England batters are going to be coming hard on Day 5 as they have batted well in the last day of a Test in recent times. Since 2022, they have batted on Day five 10 times and have scored at a quick rate of 4.4 runs per over averaging 40.3 per wicket. This is the best batting average for any team on Day 5. Expect the likes of Jamie Smith, Harry Brook and captain Ben Stokes to step up and deliver.
England batters lack experience batting on Day 5 in Tests
Entering Day 5, England have lost three big wickets of Joe Root, Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley. Among the remaining batters, Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes are only batters who have some experience batting in the last day of the Test match. Pope has been horrible averaging just 13.1. Jamie Smith has batted only once and Harry Brook, who batted on Day 5 for the first time in the Leeds Test last week, got out for a golden duck. This will give a massive confidence for Indian bowlers to bowl out England as early possible on Sunday and seal the Test match.
Mohammed Siraj on Day 5 has a terrific record outside Asia
Mohammed Siraj has been fantastic on Day 5 outside Asia as he has averaged 26.9 in countries like England, Australia and South Africa compared to taking just one wicket and averaging 55 in Asia. With already seven wickets in this Test match, Siraj will come in with an intention to take a 10 wicket haul and winning the game for team India.
Showers are expected early on in the morning with rain percentage (probability of a rain) in Birmingham going down from 79 per cent at 7 am local time in the morning to 22 percent at 1 pm local time. The match will begin at 11:00 am local time.
It means that if it does rain till 1 pm local time then the match would most likely start after Lunch on the final day, giving England enough time to fight for the draw.
The temperatures will remain low and below 20 degrees Celsius mostly while the cloud cover will be there throughout the day’s play, helping the bowlers. India will have a fair chance of taking the remaining seven wickets win their first-ever Test in history at Edgbaston.
