Jess Jonassen and Shafali Verma combined to get Delhi Capitals a six-wicket win against the Gujarat Giants in their Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on February 25 (Tuesday).
Thanks to this win, the Capitals moved to the top of the WPL 2025 points table as they now have three wins from five games. They replaced Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the top of the table, who have four points from four games.

Shafali was the one who started to go after the target of 128 from the word go. The right-handed batter smashed 44 off 27 balls. Her knock included five fours and three sixes. She was visibly disappointed by the way she got out as she missed out on an opportunity to score a fifty.

Jess Jonnasen, who was taken to the cleaners with the ball in hand by Bharti Fulamli, was promoted by the Capitals' management to bat number three, and she made the best use of it, smashing a fifty off just 26 balls. She remained unbeaten on 61 and saw her team through even as Delhi lost Shafali, Annabel Sutherland and Jemimah Rodriguez in a space of 27 runs.
Apart from Fulamli and, to an extent, Tanuja Kanwer, who added 51 for the seventh wicket with the former, no Giants batter was able to bat properly, and, as a result, they could get only 127 runs on the board. They remain at the bottom of the table with just one win in four games.
