Mitchell Santner Pips Tim Southee In All-Time New Zealand Captaincy Record
Only Kane Williamson has led New Zealand in more T20Is than Santner
All-rounder Mitchell Santner has gone past Tim Southee to set an all-time New Zealand captaincy record. The ongoing game against South Africa in Harare is Santner's 30th game as New Zealand T20 International (T20I) captain, going past Southee, who has led on 29 occasions.
Only Kane Williamson has led New Zealand in more T20I matches.

As captain, Santner has 31 wickets and 245 runs to his name. Moreover, only Southee (164) and Ish Sodhi (146) have more wickets than Santner (124) in T20Is. Overall, he has led New Zealand on 45 occasions across formats.
The spinner, who bowls and bats left-handed, made his debut for New Zealand in 2015. Since then, he has played 30 Tests, 118 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 112 T20Is so far.
In the current game against the Proteas, Santner finished with figures of 2/26 from his four overs. The Blackcaps have already won both their games in the tournament so far. They beat South Africa by 21 runs in their first match and followed that up with a clinical eight-wicket win over hosts Zimbabwe.
