The upcoming round of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 will witness some of the biggest Indian stars in action, with Rishabh Pant being the latest to confirm his availability for Delhi’s next encounter against Saurashtra in Rajkot, starting on January 23, reported the Indian Express.
“Rishabh Pant has confirmed that he will be available for selection for Delhi’s Ranji Trophy game against Saurashtra in Rajkot,” DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma told the aforementioned website after he was named, alongside Virat Kohli, in the probable list for Delhi’s last two group games.
Pant, who last played a Ranji Trophy game during the 2017-18 season, hasn’t been named in India’s squad for the five-match T20I series against England. The wicketkeeper-batter, however, is likely to feature in the following ODI series, and then in the Champions Trophy.
Pant had a mediocre Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia, which India lost by a margin of 1-3. The left-hander scored 255 runs in nine innings at an average of 28.33, with just one fifty to his name. In six out of nine innings, Pant got out between scores of 20 to 40.
Earlier, Shubman Gill also confirmed his availability for Punjab’s next game against Karnataka, while Yashasvi Jaiswal will play for Mumbai against Jammu and Kashmir. Rohit Sharma trained with the Mumbai team on January 14 but hasn’t provided any update regarding his availability, and neither has Kohli. The two senior men had a horrible 2024 in red-ball cricket.
