The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is getting closer, even as the IPL 2025 got over only a month ago on June 3. The reason for the fast approach of the next season is the start of the IPL 2026 trade window, which, according to several media reports, will begin on July 4, one month after the end of the previous season.
Mumbai Indians (MI), who finished fourth in the points table, but reached Qualifier 2, will be looking to add to their already strong squad in the IPL 2026 trade window. Historically, it is MI which has been the best trading team, picking a gem ahead of every season, be it Hardik Pandya in 2024 or Zaheer Khan in 2009.

Here are three players that MI would look to acquire during the IPL 2026 trade window.
It is hard to imagine that Gujarat Titans (GT), after acquiring Washington Sundar for INR 3.2 Cr in the IPL 2025 mega auction, would look to part ways with the all-rounder. However, given that the 25-year-old played only six games for the franchise and how they already have two established spinners in Rashid Khan and R Sai Kishore, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Sundar is actually traded to MI.

MI have always struggled to deal with the absence of Jasprit Bumrah, which has now become a common phenomenon at the start of every season in the IPL. To make sure that they have an apt replacement ready, the Blue and Gold brigade can sign Kuldeep Sen, who is currently with Punjab Kings.

Sen has experience of 12 IPL matches, and he played all of them for Rajasthan Royals (RR). He is an out-and-out quick bowler.
MI have lacked a good Indian wicketkeeping option. KL Shrijith and Robin Minz could not do justice to the requirements of the team. As a result, the franchise may look towards Kerala’s Vishnu Vinod.

Vinod has already been part of the MI set-up and thus, it would be easy for him to adapt to the conditions and perform according to the demands.
